A Mongolian Wedding

A photo from my friends Bayaraa and Degy's wedding last Sunday.   This is the reason I hustled back from the countryside on the Furgon Express.

love it! no traditional garb for the bride and groom, eh? was it a typical Christian ceremony?

that outfit rocks! it's like friar tuck meets john wayne.

Yeah gotta go with tater-tot on that one - Friar Tuck meets John Wayne for sure. Were you an usher or something in the wedding?

Only the close family attended the actual ceremony. The photo is from the banquet. Not a Christian ceremony, but suit and white gown are not uncommon for groom and bride.

And no, I was not an usher. Lots of other folks were wearing deels, just not the ones at the coworker tables.

I like the "Brokeback Jedi" look. :P

Well, the deel looks quite comfortable - we probably shouldn't be giving you so much crap for wearing traditional gear.

K - you will have to carry on the "amazing race" tradition in UB:

Brokeback Jedi, heh, I like it.

K- don't listen to AB. AB, you've met k - you know he takes this sort of stuff seriously, right?

nice belt

Hahaha! Nice deel man, I bet it was the most 'plain' around there. I agree with your impression about your hat!
In Dornogovi they say only 'young men'(bachelors) tie their belts like that! (careful with the suu now!)

Re: belt. After spending the last 3 weeks in the countryside, I can confidently say that I'm wearing the belt like a woman in this picture. It should be dropped down about 10-15cm. Next time I'm gonna tie it proper.
